Choose Your Own Adventure Story~

The latest project in our English class was a choose your own adventure story. I learned a lot in the process of making it and had fun too. Over all I prefer to write this type of story because you can make it have different endings and different passages so its like multiple stories in one. Making this story required many steps; making a story map on inspiration, writing the story in google docs, and writing the story and adding effects and pictures on keynote. If you didn't work hard in class you were going to have a lot of homework that night because every step took a long time.
My story is called "Alien Invasion" and takes place in a small, nice neighborhood. Jake, the main character, is playing with his dog when he hears voices and the wind comes up. From there he has to make a number of choices, hopefully the right ones, to get to the resolution and save the town.

My Inspiration~

My sister has always been a person I look up to. She’s always there when I need her and listens to what I have to say. She’s in lots of activities but still gets good grades. She’s not only an inspiration to me but everyone around her. She’s an amazing role model and I’m sure you will agree.
Tessa has always been successful in what she does and is a great role model. She has lots of goals for her life that she tries to reach everyday. Some of them are just small like getting a good grade on a test or doing well in a sheep show. Others are long-term goals like going to college and being a successful adult. Being successful means many things to everyone, but to her it means getting to a place in your life where you are happy with what you have done or you have set a goal and have reached it.
Now that Tessa is in high school she knows that it gets harder to balance your time between friends, homework, sports and other activities. She said that it helps her if she makes a plan depending on how much time she has then follows it to get done with her work in time. She says that if you work hard in school and try your best to get all your work done it makes it easier to get to do other more fun things. Tessa knows what she needs to get done everyday and as a reward she uses spending time with friends, which gets her motivated to work hard so she can do that. Lots of people get their work done all the time, but my sister also has a very busy life, so I have always looked up to her for working so hard.
Tessa has led a very successful life so far and I assume she will continue to. She says it is always helpful when you are hanging out with the right people. Being with the right group of friends will allow you to go further in life and just be an overall happier person. She says getting caught up in drama is not going to get you any where in life and your high school years will be a lot more enjoyable if you don’t. Tessa keeps in mind all the time that there is always someone watching you. Whether it’s an adult or a little kid you want to build a good reputation and have a positive attitude all the time.  Also remember that your actions affect more than just you, so always think about the consequences before you make a decision.

Tessa has always been a great role model for me and is always ready to give me good advice. As you can see Tessa is a great sister and inspiration. I am thankful for her everyday and I hope I can be as big of an inspiration to others too.

Travel Report: Cayman Islands

Can you imagine snorkeling in crystal clear water with stingrays all around you, laying on soft white sand and baking in the sun, or enjoying a delicious meal cooked at an authentic Cayman restaurant? The Cayman Islands can offer all of this and much more. These three islands are a wonderful place for a fun and relaxing vacation or to get a break from a cold Nebraska winter.
The beautiful Cayman Islands are an overseas territory of the United Kingdom.  They are located in the Caribbean Sea close to Jamaica. It all consists of three islands; Grand Cayman (the biggest island), Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac. There are around 58,435 people living in the Caymans as of 2013 and the population is growing. George Town is the biggest city and also the capitol located on Grand Cayman. An advantage to living in the Cayman Islands would be the low taxes, which are extremely lower than they are in America.
There are so many activities and attractions in the Cayman Islands you wouldn’t be able to get to all of them even if you stayed a whole year! The top-rated attraction out of all the islands is Stingray City. It is located in the North Sound on Grand Cayman. You get to swim or even snorkel on the shallow sandbar where the Atlantic Southern stingrays swim up ready for you to interact with and feed them.
This is defiantly not the only activity on the islands. There is a little something for everyone here. If you would prefer to stay dry a glass bottom boat ride in the glistening sea watching beautiful fish and other creatures swim beneath you, or visiting the Cayman Turtle Farms to experience everything from sharks to butterflies might be the best choice. If you have been looking forward to getting a nice tan on a beautiful beach or swimming in the sea, check out the Seven Mile Beach (one of the best beaches) or dive and snorkel to witness gorgeous underwater creatures. There are so many other attractions like The Blow Holes and Bodden Town Pirate Cave.
You can never leave a vacation without trying new foods. Some of the foods in the Caymans are similar to what we have in America and others are a little different and strange. A few of the most common foods are cassava (a root known as tapioca in America), Johny cake (corn-meal flat bread), breadfruit (taste a little like a potato), plantain (a mini banana that is cooked before eaten), and meat pie (a normal pie with meat and vegetables for filling). Though a lot of food is grown there, lots of it is imported because of low agriculture production. Seafood is often eaten and seen at restaurants, but beef is a “luxury” and usually eaten at special occasions. There are many amazing restaurants scattered around the island a few of them are Bombay Chopsticks located on the East end and its said to be the #1 restaurant in the Cayman Islands, and Bread and Chocolate located in George Town and said to be #3 in the Caymans.

The Caymans are an incredible vacation spot for everyone in the family. You will experience once in a lifetime adventures you will never forget. Whether you come for the attractions or just the food you won’t be let down. The Cayman Islands will make memories that will last a lifetime!

Why I want to go to College

As a little girl being with animals was all I ever wanted to do. You could always find me tinkering with the plastic doctor’s equipment I had and doing emergency procedures on my sick stuffed animals. It made me so happy when I could finally “cure” their deadly diseases. I was my stuffed animal’s hero. It never failed to amaze me when my mom swooped in on a sick animal and relieved their pain. It was astonishing to my little mind and ever since I saw the animals and how happy my mom could make them I knew it was my dream to be just like her.
If the rest of my Jr. high and high school go as planned I know exactly what I want to do with the rest of my future. Going to UNL has been something I really wanted to do for a long time, so I plan on attending the University of Nebraska for 4 years. After that I hope to go to Kansas State for another 4 years. Then get a job as a veterinarian, have a lovely family, and live happily ever after. Most people would say something like, “good luck with that!”, but I believe if I make the right choices through the rest of my life I can make it happen.
College is going to get me ready for pursuing my dreams and teaching me how to be mature and deal with problems I am going to run into along the course of my life. It won’t only give me the education I need to be veterinarian, but also further my education all around. Going to college is definitely going to help your reputation when you become an adult. If you are applying for a job, no matter what the profession, the person with the college degree is always going to be thought more highly of and have a better chance of being considered for the job. Over all college is going to increase your wage earning abilities, discipline you to be a better person, and just generally broaden your horizons.
I think everyone has an inspiration in their life and whether it’s your big brother or a celebrity they are going to be there for motivation to do your best. I want to go to college because I want to be an inspiration to my family, my friends, and everyone who ever meets me. I realize some people are not lucky enough in today’s society to have great parents to look up to like me, but I hope that if I do the right things and go to college I can show people who don’t have a supportive family that even for them anything is possible. College is going to shape me into the person I am going to be the rest of my life and I want to have a positive impression on the world even if its just in my town or community. So I believe if I go to college it may do more for me than I really know at this point in my life and hopefully, also for the people around me.

There are so many people that think they are going to go to college but then they make a bad choice that keeps them from it. I hope that if younger kids see more people like me being successful and pursuing their dreams it will motivate them to do the same. So that’s my goal and the reason I want to go to college, to motivate and be an inspiration.

Concrete Poem

Running and playing
Never stoping
Always whining and wanting
Always there
And so so loud
Cute and Cuddly
Sneaky and Naughty
Love my Cat
